Complaints

We are committed to providing a high-quality legal service to all our clients. When something goes wrong, we need you to tell us about it. This will help us to improve our standards.

We are committed to providing you with the best possible service. If something goes wrong or you are unhappy with any aspect of our work, please let us know so we can try to put things right.

Please first speak to the person handling your case. If they cannot resolve your concerns, or you would prefer to speak to someone else, please contact our Client Care and Complaints Manager:

Miss Ghotai Haq
Email: complaints@privitylegal.co.uk

Please include as much information as you can about your concerns, along with your name, case reference and how you would like us to resolve the issue.

We will handle your complaint fairly and will not charge you for investigating it.

What happens after you make a complaint?

  1. We will acknowledge your complaint.
Within five days of receiving your complaint, we will write to confirm that we have received it and provide a copy of this procedure.
  2. We will look into your concerns.
Miss Haq will normally investigate your complaint by reviewing your case file and speaking to the staff member involved.
  3. We will offer to discuss it with you.
Within 14 days of sending our acknowledgement, we will invite you to a meeting to discuss your concerns and try to agree a resolution.
  4. We will confirm the outcome in writing.
Within three days of the meeting, we will write to summarise what we discussed and any steps agreed to resolve your complaint.
If you would prefer not to attend a meeting, or a meeting is not possible, we will send you a detailed written response within 21 days of our acknowledgement. This will explain our findings and any proposed solution.
  5. You can ask us to review the decision.
If you remain unhappy, please let us know. We will arrange for a Partner to review Miss Haq’s decision. Within 14 days of receiving your review request, we will write to explain our final decision and the reasons for it.

If we need more time at any stage, we will explain why and let you know when you can expect a response.

If you are still unhappy: the Legal Ombudsman

If you are unhappy with our final response, or your complaint has not been resolved within eight weeks of you raising it with us, you may be able to ask the Legal Ombudsman to investigate.

The Legal Ombudsman is an independent service that looks at complaints about the service provided by lawyers.

The Legal Ombudsman expects complaints to be made to them within one year of the date of the act or omission about which you are concerned or within one year of you realising there was a concern. You must also refer your concerns to the Legal Ombudsman within six months of our final response to you.

These time limits are subject to the Legal Ombudsman’s rules and any exceptions it may allow.
